MORE INFO ABOUT THE VINEYARD OF OXFORD!
If you’ve never been here before, don’t panic! Someone will welcome you and answer any questions you might have. Our hope is that you’ll feel welcome here and feel free to worship God in a comfortable way. Attire is casual.
Grab a cup of coffee, juice & breakfast roll as Café/visiting begins at 10:00 am. Worship is at 10:30.
“WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?”
We offer childcare for babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age. Our children’s program, “Kids on the Vine” starts when they are 3 years old (if they are ready to sit and listen to a lesson) and goes up to 5th grade. We do a bible lesson and crafts each week. We have outside play time if the weather time permits. The first Sunday of every month our children join us in the worship service before going to the children’s room to do their lesson.
“WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE WORSHIP SERVICE?”
We begin with a time of singing to the Lord. The songs are easy to catch on to, with the lyrics projected on a screen. Feel free to sing away or simply listen & enjoy like God does. During the singing…it is our hope that real worship happens …a time we forget about ourselves and remember who made us and loves us. Our worship style is informal, with music in the pop-rock style. (We enjoy contemporary songwriters like Matt Redman & Delirious, as well as the occasional classic hymn with contemporary arrangements.)
Then it’s time to consider what God may be saying to us through His book, The Bible. Hopefully, the fog lifts and we can see Him a little more clearly.
Sometimes the service ends with a communion celebration. Bread & grape juice are shared, signifying the life of Christ poured out for us. If communion isn’t something meaningful for you, feel free to pass.
During closing time, if you wish prayer for healing or for God’s empowering presence, or if you’re simply doing business with your maker, stay in your seat & you will be prayed for in a low-key, non-hype style. It’s all pretty relaxed and informal.
“WHAT IS A VINEYARD CHURCH?”
The Easy version: There are over 600 Vineyard churches in the U.S. & another 800 internationally. Vineyard people are called, “Empowered Evangelicals…a people equipped to go out & do the things that Jesus did.” It is a community oriented church believing that service to the poor & praying for the sick is a hallmark of Jesus-style ministry. Vineyards are also passionate about making Christianity accessible to people with no previous God-connection.
We identify with the historic Christian faith as articulated in the Apostles’ & Nicene Creeds. We appreciate the diverse riches of the Christian tradition across social, racial, and denominational boundaries and pursue intentional friendships with other churches in our communities.
